Viva La Raza Pt. 2: La Lucha Continúa ✊🏽

Back in February, I wrote a blog titled Viva La Raza: A Call for Justice and Change. I was fired up. Heartbroken. Hopeful. Since then, I’d love to say things have improved for our immigrant communities—but the truth is, the fight just got even heavier.

We’re watching history repeat itself in real time. Families are still being torn apart. Kids are still sitting in detention centers. And now, new rulings and laws are making it even harder for people to feel safe, welcome, or seen in this country.

It’s Still About La Gente

Every day there’s a new headline, but behind those headlines are real people. Abuelas scared to leave home. Teens navigating high school with deportation hanging over their heads. Parents working two jobs just to afford legal fees.

If you’ve been paying attention, you know this isn’t just politics—it’s people. It’s personal.

Self-Deportation? Nah, We Ain’t Going Nowhere

Lately there’s been a wave of talk about “self-deportation.” Let’s call it what it really is: pressure. Fear. Gaslighting. Some families are leaving the U.S. not because they want to—but because they’re tired of the trauma.

This land was built on immigrant backs. And now they’re trying to erase us with a smile on their face. We’re not falling for it. We’re still here. We’re not going anywhere.

San Diego, Stand Up

Here in San Diego, I’ve seen people show up for each other. Protests in the streets. Markets raising money for legal aid. Teachers checking in on undocumented students. This is the energy we need.

We don’t just survive. We ride for our people. We build together. We protect each other.

SPRDOPE Is With You

This brand has always been about more than clothes. It’s about expression. Resistance. Culture. When I design something, it’s for the homies who feel invisible. For the kids growing up with two cultures in one home. For the families who’ve sacrificed everything just to have a shot.

If you ever feel like no one sees you—I see you. And I’m right there with you.

What Now?

Speak up. Support local orgs doing the work. Share info. Check in on your people. Vote when the time comes. And wear your culture loud. Even when the world tries to silence us, we show up in full color.

La lucha sigue.
La cultura vive.
And we ain’t backing down.
